Purana Ghrita

– Aged Mature Desi A2 Cow Ghee

What is Purana Ghrita?

Purana Ghrita isn’t your everyday ghee. The term ‘Purana’ literally means ‘old’ or ‘aged.’ Unlike fresh ghee, Purana Ghrita is clarified butter that has been aged for a significant period – often ranging from 1 year to over 100 yearsin earthern pots, buried in the soil, in the method specifically described in the Ayurvedic scriptures! This extensive aging process is what transforms it, enhancing its medicinal properties and making it a potent therapeutic agent in Ayurveda.”

“During this prolonged aging, the ghee undergoes a unique biochemical transformation, accumulating specific beneficial compounds. It’s stored in special conditions, allowing it to mature and develop its full potential.

As the ghee ages, it undergoes several changes in its physical and chemical properties. Physically, the grainy texture of fresh ghee becomes soft, smooth and finer to touch, with changed odour and changed colour.

The changes depend on the age and storage conditions.

Kaumbha Ghrita or Prapurana Ghrita is Aged Cow Ghee stored for more than 110 years, as per the specific Ayurvedic process.
